How To Make Mint Tea From Garden
Easy Fresh Mint Tea recipe. A easy healthy homemade mint tea recipe made with only three ingredients… fresh mint tea leaves, water, and honey.
I'm sharing an easy recipe that I discovered over the summer today… this Easy Fresh Mint Tea.
It's a homemade version of mint tea, that uses fresh mint tea leaves and honey.
It's really simple, but really amazing! The thought to make this had never crossed my mind before this summer, but I loved it so much that I wanted to share this idea with you guys.
Over the summer, my family and I went to the Netherlands for a wedding. We went to Arnhem, Amersfoort, Gouda, Delft, and Veere.
You can check out my Netherlands Travel Post here, if you are interested. 🙂
Anyways, while we were in the Netherlands, we went to lunch one day and I ordered a mint tea.
I fully expected to get a cup of hot water with a mint tea bag inside, but instead I was served a big glass of hot water with lots of fresh mint tea leaves inside. My eyes literally lit up with excitement.
My tea was served on a tray with a single serving of honey next to it. The server then said to make sure to mix the honey into the tea, and I happily followed his orders.
The tea was SOOOO good.
At first I thought that this fresh mint tea was a one off, and that the lunch restaurant that I went to just made it this way. NOPE.
Every single cafe or restaurant that I ordered mint tea from during my time in the Netherlands, served it this way.
I ended up having fresh mint tea every single day for a week! How could something that was totally normal over there be something that I have never seen over here?!
I was blown away with 1) how natural and obvious of an idea this was and 2) how much better mint tea tasted using fresh mint leaves.

Simple, clean ingredients.
Believe it or not, all you need are these 3 ingredients to make fresh mint tea.
You can either buy fresh mint leaves at the grocery store or grab some from your garden outside. I find that mint is one of those herbs that grows really well outside and that needs minimal intervention.

Tweaks that can be made to this easy fresh mint tea recipe:
- You can use regular sugar instead of honey if you like.
2. You can also try using spearmint instead of peppermint leaves.
Spearmint has a lighter more delicate flavor. It is also almost a bit sweeter than peppermint.
Peppermint has more mentol in it and is thus stronger in taste and smell. It thus has a more cooling effect.
3. You can cool the mint tea in the fridge ( after it seeps), to make an iced tea out if it.
4. You can add chamomile, lemon, or ginger root to your tea.
I'd love to hear how you make different versions of your mint tea!
